Book If Jesus Were Mayor Now Accessible to Larger Audience

If-Jesus-Were-Mayor-MonarchA new and enhanced edition of the book If Jesus Were Mayor: How Your Local Church Can Transform Your Community has just been published by Monarch Books, a major Christian book publisher, giving significantly expanded distribution to the message of the importance of wholistic ministry through local churches.

The book was authored by Harvest’s president and founder Bob Moffitt. It was co-written and edited by Karla Tesch. It was first self-published by Harvest in 2004 for limited distribution.

Beginning in January 2007, the book will be available through local Christian bookstores. It will also be available via major book websites such as Christian Book Distributors (www.christianbook.com) and Amazon (www.amazon.com), as well as directly through Harvest (phone: 602-258-1083, or email: orders@harvestfoundation.org). As a result of the publication by Monarch, it is Harvest’s expectation that the messages of the book will reach a much larger audience than would otherwise be the case, and the book will have a broader impact in bringing needed understanding to church pastors and leaders. Soon the book will also be available in a number of languages other than English. Translations are underway or have been completed in Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, Russian, French, and Romanian.

Using Scripture, the book shows God’s agenda for the restoration of all things through Christ, and His intended role for local churches in that agenda. Bob Moffitt draws on his years of experience training Christian leaders around the world, and describes the transformational results of biblical principles in action. The book presents a vision for local churches impacting their communities through lifestyles of sacrificial service.

In posing the question, “What would Jesus do if He were Mayor?” the authors are not imagining that Jesus would literally return in the flesh as a community leader. Instead, (quoting from the book), they are “asking the reader to imagine what would happen if Jesus’ character, values, laws, and teachings were the governing basis for our communities. The idea of Jesus as Mayor is only to help us think how it would be if His will were carried out in our communities and societies.”

Those who have not already read If Jesus Were Mayor are encouraged to take advantage of this new opportunity. Besides establishing a strong biblical foundation for the ministry of compassionate outreach in the community, the book also includes numerous case stories of what has happened when churches have accepted this responsibility and acted upon it. In addition, it provides practical tools that churches can use to implement the demonstration as well as proclamation of God’s love. To whet your appetite for its content, we offer the following highlights from the book. (Taken from If Jesus Were Mayor © 2006 by Bob Moffitt.
